An earth tremor of magnitude 3.8 on the Richter scale shook the area of ​​the desert city of Indio, in California, United States, this Saturday morning, where the 23rd edition of the Coachella Festival began this weekend. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the shaking occurred at 9:08 am, local time, and had as its epicenter a desert area 32 kilometers from Coachella and 30 kilometers from Palm Springs.

In the last 10 days, another earthquake above 3.0 magnitude was recorded in this area. An average of 234 earthquakes with magnitudes between 3.0 and 4.0 occur per year in California and Nevada, according to a recent data sample cited by the Los Angeles Times.

The Coachella Festival receives around 200,000 attendees in at least seven different stages that will host outstanding singers for two weekends. This year there are 147 performances scheduled, among which those by Doja Cat, Tyler, the Creator, Lana del Rey, No Doubt, J Balvin, Peso Pluma, and Shakira who made a surprise appearance last night.
