Eastern Piedmont University above the national average: excellent quality and research results

ALEXANDRIA. Research at the University of Eastern Piedmont is of high quality. It is even higher than the national average. This is confirmed by Anvur, the national agency for the evaluation of the university system which presented, in Rome, the state of health of all Italian institutions. And these are numbers that count, because they substantially affect the distribution of the ordinary financing fund dedicated to the sector.

«The first results of the Anvur study – commented the rector Gian Carlo Avanzi – are really very stimulating and encouraging for the whole Upo community and for our geographical area of reference. They push us to continue on the path of modernizing our research infrastructures and tell us that our degree of involvement in the social, economic and cultural life of eastern Piedmont is improving year by year. The Upo is already one of the development engines of the territory but we will use the VQR survey, Evaluation of the Quality of Italian research, to define our growth strategies for the near future in an even more detailed and effective way ».

And here are the numbers: in all four indicators the university with offices in Novara, Vercelli and Alessandria reports a result above the national average. It is seventh for the quality of research products and fifth in the “goodness of recruitment”, that is, the quality of the products presented by professors who have advanced in their careers or who have entered the university system. Also relevant are the results regarding the quality of the products of those who have obtained the research doctorate, where the Upo is thirteenth in the national ranking out of 61 universities.

“The most important result – explained by Upo – comes from the evaluation of the case studies relating to the Third Mission”, which includes the interaction with civil society and with the entrepreneurial fabric. «The degree of effectiveness of technology transfer was also assessed, as well as the Higher Education initiatives as well as the actions that the university has introduced to promote the culture of sustainability internally and towards stakeholders. Upo was ranked fifth at the national level (1.18 points, on a par with Bergamo and Ca ‘Foscari), second only to the Polytechnics, which have always been leaders in these particular sectors “, they add.
