ROMA – The alternative to long waiting times for recharging the battery of electric vehicles comes from Ample, an American start-up that has developed an “exchange” solution able to restart the car with “full” just ten minutes. After a seven-year development phase, Ample currently has five battery replacement stations with its new technology in the San Francisco Bay Area, US, which currently have a maximum service capacity of ninety cars per day. The stations are able to carry out all the operations necessary to replace the battery in a completely automated way and thanks to their complete format they do not require complicated construction works. In addition, whenever possible, used sources of wind and solar energy to then transfer the stored current to the batteries to be installed on the vehicles. Another advantage is the compact size of the station module which allows it to be installed in a space occupied by two medium-sized cars.
