Its name is C-8 and it is the evolution of a previous prototype, built in a few examples.
The propulsion system is given by electric torpedo motors installed on the “wings” of the boat and which uses hydrofoil technology, which allows the boat to rise above the surface of the water, thus allowing stable navigation and low noise. ‘exercise.
The CEO of Candela, Gustav Hasselskog, says that the C-8 will represent, on the water, the revolution that has been made by the iPhone for smartphones: “We want to sell more boats than those with combustion engines – he explains – and the C -8 aims to radically change our concept of a boat and navigation on water. It is not noisy, it is not difficult to drive, it does not pollute. It will be relaxing for passengers, respectful of nature and with very low maintenance costs “.
Behind Candela’s Hydrofoil technology, however, there is a lot of commitment and innovation. Several sensors analyze the attitude of the boat many times per second, making all corrections in real time. When the C-8 reaches the speed of 16 knots it gets up on the water, being able to count on a speed of up to 30 knots. The autonomy is given by a 44Kwh battery that is recharged, with three-phase current, in two hours and everything needed to steer the boat is set on a 15.4-inch touchscreen display. However, the price remains as a “premium” boat: about 290 thousand euros, plus VAT and taxes.
