Facebook and Gucci united in the fight against counterfeiting

The luxury house and Facebook have filed a joint lawsuit against an individual for violation of the terms of service and conditions of use of Facebook and Instagram, as well as for infringement of Gucci’s intellectual property rights, counterfeiting of Gucci trademarks and unfair competition. The lawsuit was filed in the United States, specifically in the Northern California District Court. “Facebook and Instagram take issues relating to intellectual property and in particular those relating to counterfeiting seriously. Their terms of service strictly prohibit the infringement of intellectual property rights, including the sale or promotion of counterfeit products, ”reads a statement just released. Partnering with brands like Gucci has helped Facebook and Instagram develop a robust intellectual property protection program, which includes, among other things, a comprehensive notification and takedown procedure.
