Farewell to Valerio Evangelisti, the pen of Italian fantasy

Valerio Evangelisti, writer of science fiction, fantasy and horror books born in Bologna in 1952, has died. The confirmation comes from the writer Loredana Lipperini, who writes on Twitter: «Valerio Evangelisti is no longer there. He was a teacher, a friend, a fellow traveler. He imagined unthinkable ways for non-realistic fiction, but not only. He was a great writer, a political writer through and through. He was a friend. Hasta siempre, brother ».

In 1993 Evangelisti won the Urania Prize with the novel Nicolas Eymerich, inquisitore, published in the science fiction monthly “Urania” in 1994. That year, it was the best-selling title in the series, with 15,000 copies (which later became 17,000). Over time, another ten novels from Eymerich’s cycle followed (see the bibliography). All have had numerous reissues.
