If you liked the Banksy exhibition at the Mosaic Gallery in Central Station, don’t miss the free one on TvBoy staged again this week at Mudec. At the registry office he is Salvatore Benintende and he is one of the most important neo-pop street artists on an international level. His works are in fact exhibited, from the street to museum exhibitions, in various cities around the world: Rome, Barcelona, Munich, Copenhagen, Berlin, London, Los Angeles, Miami, sometimes alongside big names such as Warhol, Lichtenstein, Haring, Basquiat.

Already in 2018 on the occasion of the exhibition on Banksy at the Mudec, TvBoy created a protest mural at night on the perimeter wall of the museum in via Tortona: a mural still visible today that portrays a hooded street artist from behind. Now the Mudec hosts it for the first time in Milan in a solo show that reveals to the visitor the ironic and satirical eye with which TvBoy reinterprets the various trends of contemporary society through its street art.

“The exhibition – declared the Councilor for Culture Tommaso Sacchi at the inauguration – will allow a wider audience to discover how street art is a public phenomenon and, at the same time, an artistic work that is based on political and social reflection linked to our contemporaneity “. Produced by 24 Ore Cultura and curated by journalist Nicolas Ballario – the exhibition tells the story of the 41-year-old artist from Palermo through more than 70 canvases.

The exhibition itinerary at the Museum of Cultures in via Tortona winds through four major themes: Kisses, Art, Power, Heroes. The first nucleus is dedicated to kisses, which have made TvBoy Tvboy famous all over the world: among the most famous, the football one between Messi and Ronaldo, the royal one between Kate and Meghan or the political one between Salvini and Di Maio. Then there are the paintings dedicated to the powerful of the world, including the one on Trump pissed off, Pope Francis in a superman version, “Chef” Guevara or Queen Elizabeth in punk style. The third section is dedicated to the history of art, among which the iconic portraits of Warhol, Picasso, Dalì and Cattelan stand out. The path ends with the section dedicated to the artist’s personal heroes: David Bowie, Madonna, Amy Winehouse, Steve Jobs, Freddy Mercury, but also Totti, Carrà, Fo and Camilleri.
