Gao Yunxiang was charged with seven counts of sexually assaulting a local Chinese woman while filming in Australia in 2018. The case has been tried since October 2019, and on March 19, 2020, the jury was finally found not guilty of all charges, but Gao Yunxiang’s screen image and career fell to the bottom, and his marriage with actress Dong Xuan was also shattered.
According to Lu media reports, “Tang De Film and Television”, which invited Gao Yunxiang to Australia to film the drama “Aranya Love”, filed a lawsuit against him in 2019. The case has recently received a preliminary judgment: Gao Yunxiang needs to compensate “Tang De Film and Television” for production losses of 48.85 million yuan, plus interest, liquidated damages, and attorney fees of about 50 million yuan.
The verdict also shows that Dong Xuan, who has been divorced from Gao Yunxiang for three years, must also bear joint and several liability under the “Yixuan Company” to which it belongs. Gao Yunxiang, who became popular with the role of “King Yiqu” in “The Legend of Miyue”, was found to have changed his name to “Gao Shenghui” when he attended the promotion of his own production and performance last year, which seemed to be cut off from his past self. Later, when he posted on Weibo explaining the name change, he said that because he knew that the three words “Gao Yunxiang” would cause great trouble, he proposed that the production of the drama should not be signed, and the production signed “Gao Shenghui”.
