Gil Marie López shares emotional journey of premature birth with twins in Orlando

Gil Marie López gave birth to her twin girls early, and she reappeared this afternoon on the Día a Día program through a video call from Orlando, where her twins, Catalina and Fernanda, are hospitalized. The twins were born on December 22 at only 28 weeks of gestation.

During the call, the co-host of the television program explained that the twins shared the same placenta, which complicated their fetal development. She even revealed that Fernanda was becoming smaller than Catalina in her womb.

Gil was 25 weeks pregnant when she moved from the Medical Center, where she was held for two days, to Orlando, as she shared during the video call. She was hospitalized in Orlando for three weeks.

The babies remain in intensive care, and Gil expressed that “there are days that are good, there are days that are more complicated, but thank God they are stable.” She also revealed that the biggest challenge for Catalina and Fernanda is their lungs.

“They have a purpose in life… They really wanted to be born,” Gil said with a broken voice.

Gil had announced her pregnancy with twins on August 7, 2023, and described her pregnancy as being treated as high risk. She is the mother of a teenager.

She and her husband, Christian Diez Muro, had been trying to have children together for months and had married on December 10, 2022. Despite the challenges, Gil and Christian are staying positive and hopeful for the health and recovery of their newborn daughters.
