The appointment of the Genoese singer-songwriter at the top of the Italian Society of Authors and Publishers is the natural consequence of the complex and often painful decisions taken within the company following the disputed SIAE elections on March 1st and the subsequent composition of the internal bodies on the basis of a new Statute. which assigns members a vote for each euro collected.
The result was an assembly, the Supervisory Board, controlled “by census” by the holders of large collections, which in its first meeting, on March 18, in addition to its chairman and vice-chairman, also elected the five members of the Management Board , the main governing body of the company, with the first elected destined to hold the position of president of SIAE. Exactly, Gino Paoli.
The disputes arose from the request of the minority coalition, composed of Crea, Lista Editori Italiani, Acep-AudioCoop, to be able to share with the “majority” (Fem, Federation of Authors and others) at least the name of the vice-president of the Supervisory Board, to a question of balance between all the representations. Request rejected, with the consequent election as president of the Supervisory Board of Maestro Franco Micalizzi, expression of the Authors’ Federation, with Paolo Franchini of Fem vice president.
The same majority coalition, with its own list, therefore determined the election as members of the Management Board of Gino Paoli, author of the music section, Filippo Sugar, editor of the music section and of the lawyer Luca Scordino, subject of further disputes in as one of the two outgoing sub-commissioners of SIAE to whom the only author representative of the cinema section had to give way. The other two members of the Management Board are instead an expression of the minority: Biagio Proietti, author of the Dor section, Federico Monti Arduini, editor of the music section.
