Gold or steel, tourbillon or diamonds: this is how Gucci debuts in haute horlogerie

by admin

With years of experience in the world of hands, Gucci launches its first haute horlogerie collection. Starting with Gucci 25H, the new model of the maison with which the first Gucci caliber also debuts, completely made in-house after a whole year of development in the Kering manufacture (group to which the brand is part) in the Swiss town of La Chaux. -de-Fonds.

It is an ultra slim 3.70 mm thick automatic movement, called GG727.25, which in the Gucci 25H platinum and yellow gold versions is also equipped with a spectacular tourbillon, clearly visible in the opening of the dial at the hours 6. Two other Gucci 25H models (in steel and in steel with diamonds) feature the new movement but without tourbillon. Why 25? It is the lucky number of Alessandro Michele, creative director of the brand: this explains the origin of the name of these new watches that will soon see other variations.

In addition to the Gucci 25H, for complications, materials and decorations, five G-Timeless and five Grips are also part of the haute horlogerie collection, and a fourth family which includes high-end jewelery pieces. This new phase of Gucci in the high end of watchmaking it is a natural step for a brand that has been in this market for almost 50 years and that in this period has made several strategic investments for production in Switzerland.

While in retail, Gucci, just under two years ago, opened in Place Vendôme in Paris its first boutique entirely dedicated to watches and jewelry. Except for a few exceptions, only here will the haute horlogerie models of the maison be on sale, which in 2021 celebrates one hundred years of history.
