Gucci adds an important step to the environmental and social sustainability strategy by joining the Ellen MacArthur Foundation as a strategic partner. A novelty announced at the foundation’s annual summit and on the day of the presentation of the second Gucci Equilibrium Impact Report 2021, which summarizes the commitments, progress and actions taken by the brand to generate positive change for people and the planet. The collaboration with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation aims to further accelerate the brand’s vision of the circular economy and is based on the current strategy of the house.

Promote circularity in design: Gucci undertakes to apply the principles of circularity in the creation of its collections, considering the entire life cycle of its products. Guided by design, the principles will help support Gucci’s ambition to innovate and propose products designed to be used longer, made with a view to reuse and with the use of renewable, recycled and natural raw materials. The Foundation will also support Gucci through an in-depth analysis of the brand’s commitments to help identify the areas in which circularity can be further adopted, in the design and creation phase. Training tools and courses will also be made available to deepen the knowledge and operational know-how of the principles of the circular economy.

Advancing in the field of regenerative agriculture: Starting in 2020, Gucci has started investing in regenerative agriculture projects, as part of its Natural Climate Solutions Portfolio, in relation to the main raw materials, thus supporting its approach to circularity (pictured above, the Southern Cardamon REDD+Project , reforestation project in Cambodia). The Foundation will collaborate with Gucci to promote the industry’s commitment to sourcing in a regenerative way.
