ALEXANDRIA. The format chosen by all the mayors of the province of Alessandria for the first test of a shared event could only be “Open for Culture”. That intuition of six years ago – born during the Confcommercio meetings thanks to the brainstorming between Davide Valsecchi, Alice Pedrazzi, Vittorio Ferrari and the other merchants of the historic center – was one of the most significant for the city, which woke up and organized to offer cultural events in every corner, related to good food and quality drinking. It had been a success, with bookings, then with the public and with reviews, so much so that it was repeated (until before the pandemic). And envied by other cities.

For too long, there has been talk of crossing calendars, of rethinking the fixed historical events of the whole territory to prevent the most important ones from overlapping. A few days ago, at the beginning of March, an extra step was taken, but from the side: the representatives of the seven municipalities in the center of the area met (in Palazzo Monferrato, together with Alexala and the Slala Foundation) and signed an agreement for the realization of a large joint event. Therefore in Alessandria, Acqui, Casale, Novi, Ovada, Tortona and Valenza will be the seat of an “Open for Culture” on seven dates, which will start in May and end in September 2022.

“This is – explained Roberto Cava, president of the local tourist agency Alexala – of a historic agreement: for the first time all the main centers of the province are working side by side to create an initiative that aims to promote a territory with great potential through the construction of a solid intra-territorial network. The signing of this agreement, in particular, is aimed at spreading the culture of the territories through the story declined in the arts, crafts, in the places of modernity, in historic buildings, in the promotion of food and wine products. We at Alexala will take care of and coordinate the realization of the events envisaged by the agreement, using a format that has already been tested for years, “Open for Culture”, which aims to enhance historic centers, even less commonly used spaces, through the involvement of the city fabric in cultural initiatives including music, theater and excellent food and wine ».

There will be, as happened in Alessandria (and then also in Syracuse, where there was a stage of the event), theatrical, artistic and musical performances, then an author buffet. And maybe somewhere a mega-table similar to the one that has become, more than anything else, the symbol of the event (conceived by Rovida Signorelli in Corso Roma, also re-proposed in Sicily) will emerge.
