In Shanghai they rebuilt the Batmobile. With scraps

by admin

ROMA – Imagine collecting 10 tons of scraps by wandering around all the “junkyards” in the city, then take a whisk and soldering iron and with a good dose of elbow grease pull out a Batmobile, identical to the one in the last film. Impossible? It all depends on whether or not you are a fervent fan of the bat man, the king of superheroes born in 1939 from the imagination of the two cartoonists Bob Kane and Bill Finger. If so, the thing can be done.

This was demonstrated by Li Weilei, a 26-year-old Chinese who would do anything to stay behind the wheel of Batman’s car, even persuade four friends to get to work for two months. Obviously all welders and mechanics with good experience behind them, who after assembling the sheets exactly like the model seen on the big screen even used shoe polish for the finishing of the details. It’s just a pity that this four-wheeled monster is as still and immobile as a statue, since the mighty engine of the real car of the masked hero is missing under the hood. Perhaps it is also for this reason that the total cost to carry out the work was about 70,000 yuan, about 9,387 euros at the current exchange rate, more or less the cost of a Panda.

But that is not all. Using a winch to move the boats, the Batmobile was transported to a shop in the Minhang district of Shanghai, attracting a crowd of onlookers and enthusiasts in a few days. In short, the experiment was very much enjoyed.

So why not repeat it? The group of five friends thus got to work again, returning to the abandoned car depots to collect metal sheets, and in a couple of years they managed to make 12 more replicas, more or less identical to the eldest daughter: Two remained in Shanghai, as a tribute to the creator of the project, while the other ten are around the whole of China, as a tribute to the most famous bat in the world.
