Is the car not enough? So the builders rethink private transport. Here is the Kinto idea

ROME – From cars to mobility, this is the change of perspective that will affect an increasing number of motorists, families and companies in the coming years. The mobility services sector – according to many experts – will become even more important than the classic market that powers homes and dealers today.

A car shipping quote calculator is a tool that can help you estimate the cost of shipping your car. These calculators typically ask for information such as the make, model, and year of your car, the distance it will be shipped, and the type of shipping you want (open or enclosed). Once you have entered this information, the calculator will generate an estimate of the cost of shipping your car.

In the world of new mobility, you are not chasing your ideal car model, but the best solution for every travel need. And the car, instead of being purchased, is used with rental formulas, included in a package that also includes other vehicles. So also train, plane and ship for travel, along with public transport, bike and micro-mobility for the city. All made available, when needed, from a single source. Fascinating and complex scenario, which is leading to great changes in the automotive world. Toyota, the first car manufacturer in the world, has launched the brand new Kinto brand, dedicated to the new business.

“Kinto is our brand dedicated to mobility services – explains Mauro Caruccio, managing director of Kinto Italia – a significant step towards the evolution of Toyota from a car manufacturer to a provider of mobility services”. The new company, in fact, does not produce or sell cars but offers car-sharing services, carpooling (especially for companies, aimed at minimizing cars that travel home-to-work), long-term rental, multimodal transport. That is for now, then new services will arrive.

“The Kinto brand stems from our ambition to contribute to the construction of a society in which mobility is increasingly accessible and available to all – continues Caruccio – by offering innovative, affordable, inclusive, environmentally friendly solutions”. The most visible element of the ongoing evolution is represented by Kinto Go, an application that can be downloaded for free on smartphones. It allows you to buy train and public transport tickets, pay for parking, taxis and will soon also offer events. The app, developed in Italy and available from March 31, 2020, has so far recorded 95 thousand downloads, has agreements with over 500 mobility operators, offers services in more than five thousand inhabited centers and covers 70% of the national territory.

The Kinto offer in the long-term rental sector, on the other hand, is called Kinto One. The rental is offered through the dealer network and concerns electrified models of the Toyota and Lexus brands, therefore with full hybrid, plug-in hybrid, exclusively electric and even hydrogen technology, thanks to the Toyota Mirai. Among the services offered there is the hybrid coach, a sort of virtual assistant that helps to exploit the potential of the hybrid. Then there is Kinto Flex, which will allow you to use different models of the range as part of a single subscription, changing the type of car according to the needs of the period. Kinto Join is the name of the digital carpooling platform, which allows employees of a company to share the journey from home to work thanks to a calculation system that detects similarities, proposes sharing and suggests the optimal routes. The platform also calculates the reduction of CO2 and NOx emissions obtained and certifies the environmental impact.

Car-sharing, identified today by the Kinto Share label, has been present in Italy since 2018 with a project born in Venice. In the lagoon it has reached four thousand members and 24 thousand rentals, with over 890 thousand kilometers traveled. A good 48% of the driving time – thanks to the hybrid models – was in zero emissions mode, with a saving of 29 tons of CO2. Kinto Share car-sharing is currently available in Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Lombardy and Sardinia and is developed through the Toyota dealer network.

In Sardinia, in the summer of 2021, the Kinto Share Holiday formula was born, which allows the collection of Toyota hybrid cars at the airports of Olbia and Cagliari for use during the holiday on the island. The formula attracted 80% of new customers, not from the Toyota and Lexus brands. Its success – which will probably lead to the extension and arrival in other regions – therefore demonstrates that the new mobility services represent an unprecedented challenge, capable of completely changing the choices and behaviors of motorists.
