Deadline reported that Sony’s film based on the “GT Racing” game IP will be released earlier than everyone expected. If the rumors are correct, the film directed by Neill Blomkamp (presumably based on a true story), may premiere on August 11, 2023.

The film summary reads: The film tells the story of a teenage “Gran Turismo” player’s real-life dream-chasing story. The skills he honed in the game helped him win a string of Nissan races and finally fulfill his dream of becoming a professional racing driver.
Based on this, we speculate that the film may be based on an inspirational story from a player in the GT Academy, the flagship from 2008 to 2016, which helped several professional players join the real-life racing team sponsored by Nissan.
While Deadline’s latest leak doesn’t mention the cast, it’s actually just one of many adaptations of PlayStation games in the works.
Last month, for example, it was revealed that Netflix is developing Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Will Arnett will also play Sweet Tooth in the Peacock streaming platform’s Chariots of Fire.
There’s also HBO’s “The Last of Us,” but the show won’t air in 2022. Last year, Sony discussed the Ghost of Tsushima movie last year, and it is teaming up with Amazon to create a God of War series.
