Johnny Depp’s agent confirmed Amber Heard’s 2018 editorial (op-ed) documenting his experience as a survivor of domestic violence was a ‘disaster’ for Depp’s career Sex” influence. Jack Whigham represented Depp at Range Media Partners and previously represented Depp at CAA.
He said in a remote testimony Monday that he “made a deal” for Depp to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in “Pirates of the Caribbean 6” for $22.5 million. But after Amber Heard’s article in The Washington Post, Disney decided to go in a “different direction.”
Reiterating allegations made by Depp during his testimony last week in Fairfax, Virginia, Whigham said: “After the editorial was published, there was no studio approaching him for a film, which is something we usually focus on at that time. .”
Depp said his career was “over” from “the moment the charges against me were made”, adding, “Once this happens, I lose. Whatever the outcome of the trial, I will be remembered forever.”
Earlier, Depp told the court he would no longer be working with Disney on the Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
