Johnny Depp’s Return to “Pirates of the Caribbean” Series Likely as Supporting Role

Fans of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series may have something to look forward to as rumors suggest that Johnny Depp could potentially be returning to the franchise. However, according to industry whistleblower Daniel Richtman, if Depp does make a comeback, his role may not be as prominent as before.

It has been reported that Disney does plan on bringing Depp back for the new sequels, but only in a supporting capacity. The franchise currently has two new films in the works, one starring Margot Robbie and the other written by Ted Elliott and Craig Mazin. It is unclear in which of these films Disney wants Depp to star in.

What is certain is that neither of the new plots will be centered around Captain Jack Sparrow. The film starring Robbie will obviously focus on her character, while the other led by Messing and Elliott is said to be looking for a black actress, Ayo Edebiri, to take the lead.

If Depp does end up in a supporting role, it is speculated that he may serve as a mentor to the new characters. However, if not, it is likely that he will have a more equal role alongside the newcomers in the same vein as the original trilogy.

Fans will have to wait for more details to emerge about Depp’s potential return and what his role will entail in the upcoming “Pirates of the Caribbean” films.
