With a height of 186 cm and a weight of 89 kg, the giraffe family of Lingling Animal Kingdom in Xiamen is blessed with a daughter, named “Xiaoman”. On the “June 1st” Children’s Day, children are expected to meet it.
At 5:30 pm on May 21, the giraffe “F43” who settled in Xiamen Lingling Animal Kingdom gave birth to a female cub. This is the third giraffe artificially bred by Lingling Animal Kingdom, and the second time the giraffe “F43” has become a mother. In May 2022, she gave birth to a male giraffe. Because the new baby giraffe was born on the solar term of Xiaoman this year, the park named it “Xiaoman”, which means the surplus of Xiaoman.
“Xiaoman”‘s parents are giraffes “M24” and “F43” who moved to Xiamen from South Africa in 2016. After 14 months of pregnancy, the mother “F43” finally gave birth to “Xiaoman”. When “Xiaoman” was born, he was 186 centimeters tall and weighed 89 kilograms. He was a “big and tall man”.
According to Long Yanyang, an animal caregiver, “Xiaoman” went through a 4.5-hour delivery process, learned to stand and walk three hours after birth, and then ate her first breast milk independently within 10 minutes, successfully passing the dangerous period. The staff carefully prepared a “parent-child room” for him to live with his mother. In the past few days, my father and brother also came to visit “Xiaoman” around the “parent-child room”.
