‘Game of Thrones’ sequel to air on HBO

Variety reported last Thursday that Kit Harington will reprise his role as Jon Snow in the post-Game of Thrones series. Days later, Emilia Clarke revealed in an interview with the BBC that not only did she know about the sequel, but Harrington had the idea in the first place.

“He’s told me about it. And I know it exists. It’s happening. As far as I know, it was created by Kit, so he’s in it from start to finish. So if it happens, you Will see, hopefully, certified by Kit Harrington.”

George-RR Martin shares sequel info

Clark paused in the middle of his answer, seemingly realizing that she might be talking too much. Only, though, George R.R. Martin himself officially confirmed the series in a blog post to get Clark off the hook. Martin said the series is indeed in development, and the show’s name is “SNOW”. It’s one of four spinoffs currently in the works.

Here’s what the author of A Song of Ice and Fire was willing and able to share:

“It seems like Emilia Clarke already mentioned in a recent interview that SNOW was the idea for Kit. So that part is out. Yes, Kit Harington brought the idea to us. I can’t tell you the names of the writers/showrunners because this hasn’t been approved for release…but Kit brought them, his own team, and they’re amazing. About my involvement or not All sorts of rumours about being involved. (The answer is) I got involved, just like I got involved with THE HEDGE KNIGHT, THE SEA SNAKE, and TEN THOUSAND SHIPS and all the animation shows. Kit’s team is in Santa Fe visited me and worked with me and my own excellent and talented team of writers/consultants to finalize the show.”

Martin noted that all four of the aforementioned Game of Thrones “follow-up shows” are still in the script stage. None of them have been approved yet, so that means there is no telling which one or how many will actually be aired.
