MONACO – Nine premieres, of which six are fully electric, plus a high-performance hybrid. It is with this winning deck that Mercedes-Benz plays its game towards the electrification of the entire range at the Munich Motor Show. The two most anticipated zero-emission new entries are the Mercedes EQE, a business sedan exhibited in world premiere, and the Mercedes EQB, a premium SUV that makes its European debut in Munich after the preview in China. The electric offensive of the House of the Star continues with the premiere of EQS 53 4MATIC +, the first battery-powered AMG series model, with the concept very close to the EQG production, which anticipates a future electric Mercedes G-Class, and the Mercedes-Maybach EQS concept , SUV based on the modular architecture of Mercedes-Benz electric cars in the luxury segment and above. On this basis, another fully electric model will be introduced, called EQS SUV, which in 2022 will go into series production even before the Maybach model and which will have a range of about 600 km. Premiere in Munich also for the first Mercedes Performance Hybrid. -AMG. Other premieres include the EQT-Class, S Guard and the first C-Class All-Terrain.

La berlina EQE is one of the most important innovations of the exhibition and its global launch is expected from mid-2022. The production sites will be Bremen for the world market and Beijing for China. The design includes all the typical elements of Mercedes-EQ. Overhangs and front are short, the tail with the pronounced spoiler lip gives it a touch of dynamism and the wheels, flush with the bodywork and with rims in sizes from 19 to 21 inches, have a sporty character. EQE is more compact than EQS and, at 3,120mm, has a shorter wheelbase of 90mm. In external dimensions it is similar to CLS, with which it also shares the structure with a fixed rear window and the boot lid instead of the tailgate. The dimensions of the passenger compartment exceed those of the E-Class: +27 mm the space at shoulder height in the front compartment, +80 mm the length of the passenger compartment. The position of the seats is 65 mm higher and the trunk has a volume of 430 liters. The interior design and equipment are strongly inspired by EQS.

The battery has a usable energy content of around 90 kWh, and range goes up to 660 km. For fast DC charging, a DC system with a maximum charging power of 170 kWh is available on board. 15 minutes are enough to recharge up to 35.55 Kwh, equivalent to a range of 250 km. Navigation with Electric Intelligence plans the most comfortable and fastest route, including charging breaks, based on numerous factors, and reacts dynamically to queues or a change in driving style. The MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system indicates whether the available battery capacity is sufficient to return to the starting point without recharging. For recharging with ‘Mercedes me Charge’, which allows over 530,000 public recharging points worldwide, of which 200,000 in Europe, the feeding into the grid of electricity produced from renewable energy sources is guaranteed. On request it is possible to have the MBUX Hyperscreen, a large arched display that covers almost the entire surface between the two front pillars and consists of three monitors visually perceived as a single screen. The 12.3-inch OLED display forms the display and control area dedicated to the front passenger. However, if the camera detects that the driver is looking at the passenger display, certain contents are automatically faded to prevent him from diminishing his attention while driving.

Thanks to the learning-capable software, MBUX adapts to the user and provides him with personalized suggestions for numerous functions related to infotainment, comfort and the vehicle. On request also the HEPA filter, which purifies the air introduced from the outside with a filtration level up to 99.97%. If the outside air quality is low, the system may also recommend closing the side windows or sliding roof and automatically setting the recirculation mode. In addition, if you don’t like the silence of electric driving, various sound scenarios can be simulated with the Surround Sound System

The EQB compact SUV it is equipped with 5 seats as standard, but is also available in a 7-seat version. The interior is spacious (4,684 mm long, 1,834 mm wide, 1,667 mm high), with a luggage compartment of 1,710 liters. EQB will arrive in Europe by the end of 2021. The range is 419 km and customers will be able to choose between different models with front and all-wheel drive and various power levels. There is also a version with particularly high autonomy.

Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ is based on the Mercedes-EQ architecture for cars of the upper and luxury category. At the heart of the car is the powerful drive with two motors, one on the front axle and one on the rear axle, which enables the fully variable AMG 4MATIC + Performance all-wheel drive to always transmit the driving force optimally to the asphalt. The basic version reaches a total power of 484 kW (658 hp), which rises to 560 kwh with the DYNAMIC PLUS AMG package, available on request. The new Mercedes-AMG EQS 4Matic + adopts a new generation 400 volt battery with a capacity of 107.8 kWh. Thanks also to intelligent thermal management, charging times are reduced. Fast charging takes 15 minutes to increase the range by another 300 km. The electric AMG can be easily recharged with AC up to 22 kW even at home or at public charging stations. If navigation with Electric Intelligence is activated, the battery is preheated or cooled while driving if necessary so that, when it is recharged, it is at the optimum temperature for rapid recharging. It is possible to set the charging intervals, for example to take advantage of the night hours at lower rates. The batteries are guaranteed for 10 years or a distance of 250,000 km. Mercedes-AMG EQS 4Matic + has five DYNAMIC SELECT AMG driving programs for personalized driving: Slippery, Comfort, Sport and Individual.

Il Concept EQG presented in Munich is very close to production. It has the angular silhouette, the robust outer protective bands and the typical round headlights of the G-Class.The electric variant features a continuous deep black radiator grille, a Black Panel front with 3D effect illuminated star wrapped in an all-round illuminated band and rims illuminated white in the exterior mirror housings. Instead of the usual spare wheel cover the Concept EQG mounts a lockable box on the rear, which can be used to store the charging cable within easy reach. Another highlight of the design is the flat roof rack in glossy black with the central shaped ‘G’. The vehicle has four electric motors close to the wheels and individually controllable and reduced to be activated via a 2-speed selector.

Il Concept Mercedes-Maybach EQS offers a concrete preview of the first fully electric SUV of this prestigious brand. Close to mass production, it displays typical Maybach characteristics, such as two-tone paintwork and a dynamic silhouette, but the turning point towards a new technological era is evident. The Concept is based on the modular architecture of Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles in the luxury segment and above.

Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE it is the first Mercedes-AMG Performance Hybrid and is the most powerful production car ever produced in Affalterbach, it can sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds and reach 316 km / h. The combination of a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 and electric motor provides a total power of 620 kW (843 hp) and a maximum torque that exceeds 1,400 Nm. The range in electric-only mode is 12 km.
