Mido goes digital while waiting to return to the fair

by admin

Mido 2021 will be staged from 5 to 7 June virtually on the platform dedicated to exhibitors and buyers to share projects and proposals, take stock of the sector, investigate economic and social issues, discuss trends and news. The appointment with the fair in presence is instead postponed to 2022, from 12 to 14 February.

“More than a year has passed since the beginning of the pandemic in Italy and unfortunately, the health situation, not only in our country, is not resolved – explains Giovanni Vitaloni, president of Mido -. The number of infected people is still high, the variants have put us in difficulty, as well as the problems related to the production and distribution of vaccines. International mobility is currently limited and what we thought was possible in the coming months last October is not yet. The trade fairs, to date, are still prohibited even in the white zone ».

And he continues: «We have therefore decided not to wait any longer and take a complex decision again. It is a choice of responsibility with the utmost respect for exhibitors and visitors, since we believe that Mido must continue to be the event that stands out on the world scene as unique, with the awareness of being the central engine of the sector’s economy. Our main objective is to safeguard internationality and the fair itself, to tell and enhance the eyewear sector and to create important business and meeting opportunities ».

On the next edition in February in the presence of Vitaloni, he adds: “Mido 2022 will finally be an opportunity to share the reconstruction, the enthusiasm and the energies that we are all with great effort putting into play to return to revive and shine one of the most relevant segments of the economy of our country. We are always attentive to the evolution of the pandemic and constantly monitor the real and renewed needs of exhibitors and visitors. There is no doubt that, should there be the clear-cut possibility of returning to demonstrations in the presence, we will not hesitate to meet this need “.
