Bob Dylan, many people know him as a famous singer, poet, Nobel Prize winner for literature, but his identity as a painter is less known. Recently, his solo exhibition held in Miami, the United States became popular on the Internet, and some fans even discovered that he actually painted Tony Leung and Leslie Cheung in his works.

If there is an artist who has truly influenced a generation, Bob Dylan is certainly one of them. Dylan was born in Duluth, Minnesota in 1941. He traveled to Minneapos in college and was exposed to folk and blues. In 1961, Dylan went to New York and quickly emerged, releasing his debut album the following year, Among them is the legendary song “Answer Floats in the Air”; in 1965, he released the single “Like a Rolling Stone”, which was the second best-selling single in the United States. In just 5 years, Dylan has released several classics, and at 24, he has become a pop superstar in music and culture.

As a musician, Bob Dylan has won 11 Grammy Awards; 6 times into the Grammy Hall of Fame for “substantially or historically significant” recordings with a release history of at least 25 years; in 2012, Obama Awarded to him the highest civilian honor in the United States – the “Presidential Medal of Freedom”; in December 2016, he won the Nobel Prize in Literature for his new poetic expression in traditional American songs.
Dylan’s talent for drawing is also surprising. When he was a child, he liked to write and draw while listening to music, but he really started to draw because of a car accident in 1966, which kept Bob Dylan from seeing the public for almost two years, and made him recover from injuries at the time. On the bed, he took up a paintbrush. His paintings began to communicate with the poetry, prose, and music he created. Bob Dylan once said that the painting process was a completely different creative experience for him.
In this exhibition in the United States, more than 180 Bob Dylan paintings, sculptures, and drawings are displayed, spanning the artist’s 60-year creative career. The development and diversity of Dylan’s visual arts will be presented through these artworks, illuminating the relationship between his art, music and literature.
It is reported that this exhibition is an extension of the 2019 Bob Dylan Shanghai Art Exhibition. Many foreign netizens who visited the exhibition found that: Bob Dylan seems to like the film directed by Wong Kar Wai very much, and Tony Leung played in “In the Mood for Love” Zhou Muyun and He Baorong, played by Leslie Cheung in “Breakthrough”, were painted by Dylan as oil paintings.

The oil painting with the scene of “Breakthrough” was named “TV Screen”. He Baorong, played by Leslie Cheung, sits alone in his room in Buenos Aires.
