Omegna, Villa Liberty will become an art gallery

by admin

The project for a new art gallery in Omegna begins to take shape. It is no longer just an idea, but is about to become a reality thanks to the work of the municipal administration that welcomed the gift made by the spouses Gian Pietro Lagostina and Maria Grazia Zanasi and to the project by architects Andrea Baldioli and Gian Franco Ciuffo who with the of the association «I Lamberti» have prepared an elaborate on what the future art gallery will be like.

The rendering will be presented on Saturday at 5.45 pm and on that occasion the project will be unveiled to the Omegnesi. The nearly one hundred works of art donated by the Lagostina-Zanasi family will be housed in Villa Ferrari, the former municipal library located in the Maulini park, commonly called Villa Liberty.

«This legacy represents a heritage of great artistic value and it is right that it be valued in the best possible way – says the councilor for Culture Sara Rubinelli – as municipal administration we have identified in Villa Liberty the most suitable place to keep and show this extraordinary collection. The art gallery is part of a path that sees the Rodari museum, the Ludoteca, the park with the houseware museum as cultural references. We will never be grateful enough to this family that has shown such great love for Omegna ». The donated works cover a temporal space of four centuries.

The designers have divided the rooms that will house the collection following the suggestions of the “Lamberti” as explained by Roberto Ripamonti. «These paintings could well appear in any museum in the world – says Ripamonti-, I am thinking of the painting by Giulio Carpioni, a pupil of Titian, which is one of the many valuable works that will be exhibited. However, it will not be a simple exhibition of paintings because next to each painting will appear the biography of the author. A room will then be dedicated to contemporary artists and we would also like to involve the students of the artistic high school ».

Digital tour on Saturday
It will be a museum not only to see, but to experience. On Saturday with the two architects Baldioli and Ciuffo, at the Forum it will be possible to visit the future museum and understand how it will be thanks to the virtual tour created by Fabrizio Bolongaro’s Digital 3d artist and Andrea Morisetti’s Mag studio.

However, the controversy triggered by the Brothers of Italy is not lacking. “We thank the Lagostina and Zanasi family for this donation – says the city councilor Federica Pozzi -, we have doubts about the work of arranging the villa, the safety measures and the management costs”.
