With the debut of Bornthe first 100% electric of Cupra, opens a new era for the Spanish brand that continues to increase its sales. Numbers in hand, last year Cupra registered 6,326 cars (Unrae data) and in the period January-April 2022 2,723 cars have already been sold, or 69% more than in the same period of 2021. Born is only the first of a series of electric models in Cupra’s strategic “planning”: in fact, it is coming by 2024 Tavascanthe first zero-emission suv coupé and, the following year, it could be the turn of UrbanRebel. Already presented in the form of a concept at the last Munich Motor Show, it is a car with the appearance of super sports DNA.
The opportunity to talk about Cupra’s projects was the Padel tournament for journalists organized in Milano Marittima, on the Adriatic. For some years now, Cupra has been the sponsor of this sport which is literally depopulating in Italy, with very high and constantly growing membership numbers. Suffice it to say that before the pandemic there were about 1,600 fields for practice, today there are almost 8,000.
World of sport with which Cupra shares various values: among other things, the Martorell brand recently signed a partnership with VR46 Riders Academy and Mooney VR46 Racing Team, an Italian team founded by Valentino Rossi.
Thus the Tavullia ranch became the set for a video dedicated to Cupra Born, driven by the Academy and Racing Team drivers. The characteristics of the ranch’s track have put the dynamic qualities of CUPRA Born to the test, allowing the drivers to enjoy the car’s agility, characterized by a low center of gravity and perfect weight distribution (50% front, 50% rear) . Dying electric from 231 HP (that of the e-Boost version), the Cupra Born has a declared autonomy of almost 550 km.
