Oulx refuge for migrants, the volunteers awarded by Don Ciotti

SUSA. This year the Bruno Carli special prize of the Valsusa Filmfest, an event that in addition to dealing with cinema “from below” for 25 years has been defending the culture and historical memory of the territory, will go to the volunteers of the Fraternità Massi di Oulx Refuge: the group of men and women which, within the structure set up in collaboration with the parish priest of Bussoleno, Don Luigi Chiampo, has been assisting and offering a safe shelter to refugees fleeing towards the heart of Europe through the Val di Susa corridor since 2018.
The Bruno Carli prize – established in 2002, the year of his death, in memory of the partisan and honorary president of the Filmfest – is awarded at each edition of the competition to people or organizations committed to defending human rights or the environment. The curators Maurizio Piccione and Elena Masoni will award the Bruno Carli 2022 prize tonight to the multipurpose center of Bussoleno (9 pm) to the community that manages the Oulx refuge during an evening that will keep the spotlight on the drama linked to migration.
The mayor Bruna Consolini and Don Chiampo will take part in the meeting in collaboration with the Solidarity Communities Network. The interventions of the actor and cultural mediator Mohamed Ba and don Luigi Ciotti, founder of the Abele Group are foreseen. It will be up to them to physically deliver the Bruno Carli award and to remember the importance of realities such as the Fraternità Massi Refuge, created to deal with the migrant emergency exclusively from a humanitarian point of view: guaranteeing hospitality and a safe point of reference for those who, braving the cold and the adversities of the mountain, flees from parts of the world in the throes of hunger, wars and despair.
