XPaper, l’airless in carta di Lumson, received the Adi Design Index Innovation Award and now, thanks to this recognition, is competing for the National Innovation Award established by the Presidency of the Italian Republic and for the next Compasso d’Oro to be held in 2022.

The Adi Design Index is the annual publication of Adi, the Association for industrial design that collects the best Italian design put into production, selected by the Adi Permanent Design Observatory. In addition to products or product systems of each product category, the selection also includes theoretical-critical, process or business research applied to design. Among the more than 1,000 applications received this year at the Observatory, the commission selected the 233 finalists divided into various thematic areas – Design for living, Design of materials and technological systems, Research for business and Theoretical research – to testimony of vitality and innovative thrust of Italian design.

Since 2008, three prizes have been awarded each year within the competition to projects, products and services that have distinguished themselves for theirinnovation in processes, materials, technologies, in the change of individual and social behaviors, in criticism and applied research.

“I want to thank all those who worked on the development of XPaper and who, like me, believed in this project born from a careful analysis of the market, a deep knowledge of the sector and a great passion, without which it would not be possible. overcome the challenges that we face every day – declared Matteo Moretti, president of Lumson -. The innovation carried by XPaper is even more significant because it focuses on the sustainability, a value that has become an integral part of Italian culture and design Each product competing at Adi Design represents a path, a different way of responding to market demands. XPaper represents that of Lumson and the Italian Beauty Valley, of which I am proud to be a part and of which Crema is the beating heart. An answer based on quality, research and innovation ».

The innovative character of XPaper is to be found, first of all, in the material of which the airless bottle is made: cardboard. To find an alternative to plastic or glass that it was light, easy to work with, sustainable and compatible with the strict safety protocols imposed by the cosmetic world was not easy. Initially, in fact, it seemed that paper was not the best material to use in (primary) cosmetic packaging, due to the problems related to the preservation of the formulas inside. Thanks to the giant steps made by R&D, the situation has changed and today there are innovative, high-performance solutions with great aesthetic appeal.
