How long has the transformation of classic vans into practical mobile kitchens, the so-called ‘food trucks’ been in fashion? Here: Peugeot and Whirlpool give a twist to the concept. Undoubtedly, the partnership is surprising and unusual.
Speaking of food trucks, you wouldn’t expect to see a modern Peugeot Expert transformed into a three-star chef’s kitchen, but Stellantis explains that they have a lot in common.
The Whirlpool Experience Tour is based on a long wheelbase Peugeot Expert, trimmed at the rear to form an open cooking experience. The kitchen area is equipped with W6 and W7 Whirlpool (steam) combi ovens and on the roof there is a solar panel that supplies electricity to the refrigerator. A small generator keeps all the appliances running: all this acts as a demonstration platform for some of the latest products of the American multinational household appliance.
Indeed there is a matching trailer attached to the Peugeot Expert, in the same color scheme. A refrigerator and other accessories from Whirlpool, which will use this exclusive kitchen on wheels to promote its new products, starting with France, to kitchen specialists and wholesalers and to exhibit it at international fairs.
According to Stellantis, Peugeot and Whirlpool share the same DNA, as they both have similar brand positioning in their respective sectors. “Their mantra is performance and efficiency, but also social and environmental responsibility”, unanimously explain the companies. In the same way that Peugeot is betting on fully electric mobility in the near future, Whirlpool promises fat-free cooking with its steam technology.
The Whirlpool Experience Tour will start in April next year, from France as mentioned, where the company has already visited 20 cities and hosted 72 training sessions.
But, by the second half of 2022, Whirlpool wants to build more copies of this eye-catching food van for various events in countries like Italy, Poland and the UK.
