Prince William Engages in Public Duties Amid Princess Kate’s Cancer Diagnosis

LONDON (AP) — England’s Prince William has resumed public duties for the first time since his wife’s cancer diagnosis, bringing attention to efforts to reduce food waste and support those in need.

William visited a surplus food redistribution center and a youth club in London to highlight initiatives aimed at cutting greenhouse gas emissions and feeding people facing food insecurity. The prince had previously suspended official events after his wife Kate, Princess of Wales, revealed she was undergoing treatment for cancer on March 22.

In a video message shared on the day of her announcement, Kate asked for privacy as she and her family navigated the situation. Both Prince Charles and Princess Kate have been out of the public eye since January due to health concerns, with other royal family members stepping in to fulfill their official duties.

Prince Charles disclosed on February 5 that he had been diagnosed with cancer after undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate. Kate’s diagnosis came after she underwent abdominal surgery in late January. Despite the health challenges faced by the royal family, William’s recent public appearance demonstrates their commitment to supporting important causes and initiatives.
