A Don Giovanni courtship (the opera). She who says “no” but thinks “yes” (“Let’s leave it to life, it knows better than us”), he who insists and sends his friends (Valle and Laus) to put in a good word, she who doesn’t give in. Until, at the stroke of midnight he, like a postulant Romeo, arrives to call her right upstairs, and only at that point she throws the braid, just when she had already thanked for the 13 months in Turin as commissioner of the Regio and sent an email dismissal: “It’s true, I capitulated during the night.”
