Record year for L’oreal that closes 2021 at +16.1%

Luxury and pharmacy, drive the growth of the L’oreal group which closed 2021 with 32 billion euros, up 16.1% (+11.3% compared to 2019 like-for-like for like) and an operating profit of 6.16 billion euros, equal to 19.1% of turnover. Sales of the luxury products division reached 12.35 billion making it the largest for the French cosmetics group with an increase of 21.3% which was joined by the +30.3% achieved by the cosmetics segment sold in pharmacies for a value of 3.9 billion. The revenues of the professional division have touched the 3.8 billion (+22.2%) and those of the wide consumption have been pairs to 12.23 billion (+4.5%).

“2021 has been a historic year for L’oreal – comments Nicolas Hieronimus, ceo of the group-which has achieved a record double growth compared to the world Beautys market. The Lu divisionee division became the largest in the group by volume, while the Professional Products Division continued its transformation towards omnichannel and Active Cosmetics doubled in four years. E-commerce rose 25.7% with a weight of 28.9% of sales. We are continuing the process of digitizing stores, part of our omnichannel strategy, and we are advancing our beaut Tech Tech transformation by investing in artificial intelligence and through collaborations with strategic partners such as Veril. We are also proud of our commitment to the environment and society which reflects our goal to grow responsibly”.

The group has gained market share worldwide, from North America to North Asia, the main areas of development, to Europe where it has seen a return to 2019 levels. “In a still volatile global environment, the group is confident of its ability to further improve growth compared to the 2022 market average and record increased revenues,” concludes the ceo.
