Reel rock: the world of climbing in streaming version

by admin

All concentrated in a three-day event: even the new edition of “Reel Rock” adapts to the times without giving up the opportunity to give dreams and adventures. Thus the international film festival dedicated to the world of climbing organized an Italian premiere with a special screening in streaming on the Itaca On Demand platform, dedicated to the outdoor world.
The four selected films can be viewed from the sofa at home from 22 to 24 March next: a journey of almost two hours to discover the infinite challenge between man and rock: from Mongolia to the icefalls in Montana, from Yosemite, in Colorado, on the German walls.
Between short and medium-length films there will be many emotions to experience face to face with the mountains. “Black Ice” tells the unusual experience of a group of Memphis Rox gym goers (in Tennessee). A journey that takes them from the streets of Memphis, on the banks of the Mississippi River and the cradle of blues, soul and rock’n ‘roll music, to the icy atmospheres of a remote corner in Montana. In “Action Directe” the pitch is the legendary route first ascended by Wolfgang Güllich on 14 September 1991: the first 9a in history (at Waldkopf in Frankenjura, Germany). The protagonist is the French climber Melissa Le Nevé who after six years is crowning her dream on 21 May 2020: she is the first female climber of one of the most famous sport routes in the world. The film “First Ascent / Last Ascent” stars British climbers Hazel Findlay and Maddie Cope, heading to Mongolia in search of new routes to climb. An intimate journey back in time is instead what climber Lonnie Kauk makes in “Deep Roots”: born and raised in Yosemite and belonging to the Native American group of Ahwahneechee, he finds himself confronted with some of the legendary routes opened by his father Ron Kauk , one of the protagonists of the most revolutionary climbing season.
