by admin

While we are all hanging on to the regional variation of colors and the changing ministerial decrees, a sector as heavily affected and poorly “restored” as that of dance has developed innovative forms of resilience and sometimes capable of supporting the entire theatrical ecosystem.

So in Turin, a few steps from the Porta Nuova station, there is a theater that, thanks to a project conceived by its director, the choreographer Caterina Mochi Sismondi, has never closed its doors during this season and has indeed become the hub of activity. productive and concrete support to artists.

We are talking about the Café Müller Theater, a local harvest with Bauschian echoes, and the “Solo in Teatro” project, developed so as not to leave the theatrical space abandoned, much less those who work there. The idea is simple and complex and was proposed, according to the usual approach of the Müller poster, to artists of different disciplines. Too many to mention them all, personalities such as the “dancer” ex Tanztheater Wuppertal Marigia Maggipinto and the musician Luca Morino from the Mau Mau, the long-time “physical actors” Eugenio Allegri and Jacob Olesen, the experienced choreographer Nicoletta Cabassi have already taken part. and the young dance and circus performer Alex Duarte.

Short solo

And here is the project, produced by the Circo Vertigo Foundation: for the creation of a short solo, the artist called has not only the theater available for a week, but also the professionals who work there, the technicians, the videographers, the organizers, photographers. The one and the other and the same theater, with its social and even architectural values, can continue to be protagonists and the project spotlights remain focused on the tireless, daily work that leads to the staging. At the weekend we arrive at the creation that is distributed in livestreaming on the Nice digital platform, enriched by videos with interviews and documents of the creative and backstage phases.

For the artists it remains a document that is almost a personal portfolio, for the viewers a streaming enriched with many contents that make the poetics of the protagonists intelligible even to non-experts. And when the rules allow it, as was the case in September and October, the audience also enters the room. “Through the artist’s work, the space remains vital, it speaks of itself and of the people who make it live again; thus also the theater is brought to light, in its momentary solitude, as a place of collectivity, which is now emptied and needs to be redetermined “, explains Mochi Sismondi who in this phase has transformed from a theater director of his Compagnia blucinQue to a director video.
