Revealing the Winners: New Blood Imaging Project Awards 14 Honors at Beijing International Film Festival

The 14th Beijing International Film Festival announced the winners of the Reelfocus New Blood Imaging Project in the short film unit, with a total of 14 honors bestowed upon talented filmmakers from around the world.

The media meeting of the international judges took place on April 20, with Taiwanese producer Jiao Xiongping serving as the chairman of the jury. The panel of judges included Chinese screenwriter Chen Yu, actors Jiang Qinqin and Qu Chuxiao, director Xu Hongyu, actor Yu Shi, and actor Zu Feng.

This year’s selection process saw a record number of submissions, with 2,764 entries from nearly 100 countries and regions. After rigorous screenings, 29 shortlisted works in the venture capital unit and 21 in the competition unit were chosen. Ultimately, 14 honorees were announced, with standout films like “Buried in Peace” receiving the Best Feature Film Award and “umbro” taking home the Best Documentary Award.

Commenting on the diverse range of films selected this year, Jiao Xiongping noted, “Some films showcase advanced technologies, others exhibit boundless imagination, some explore the intricate relationship between the environment and humanity, while others delve into traditional themes of human emotions.”

The Reelfocus New Blood Imaging Project continues to be a platform for emerging filmmakers to showcase their unique perspectives and storytelling abilities, contributing to the vibrant landscape of international cinema.
