Rome, work begins in the Largo Argentina area. The CEO of Bulgari: “Ready for other loans”

by admin

The construction site that will make the sacred area of Largo Argentina, one of the oldest and least known archaeological sites in Rome, accessible for the first time to the public is finally ready to start. The Bulgari maison supported the project, launched two years ago, with one million euros, a contribution that extends the list of its loans for the recovery of the city’s artistic heritage, from the Spanish Steps to the recent modernization of the lighting system of the Ara Pacis.

«It will not be the last – said Bulgari CEO Jean-Christophe Babin -: we are already working on other projects, some medium-sized, others more ambitious, to contribute to the beauty and attractiveness of Rome. On 21 April we will be the protagonists of a special event in the area of the Mausoleum of Augustus, where our hotel is being built, which will help expand the offer of luxury hospitality in the capital. Surely, over the next few years we will still find ourselves announcing other collaborations, together with Roma Capitale and the Superintendency ».

Meanwhile, the sacred area of Largo Argentina – which will certainly be ready for the 2025 Jubilee, as announced by the Councilor for Culture Lorenza Fruci, after works lasting 360 days – is preparing to welcome special walkways that will make the site entirely accessible to all, a path that will touch the four temples of the area, among the oldest in the city, so much so that historians are still defining the dedication. The area is known above all for having been the scene of the assassination of Gaius Julius Caesar in 44 BC. C., and beyond the preciousness of its vestiges, also to host one of the most loved happy colonies in the city. Cologne which, as the mayor Virginia Raggi pointed out, will remain intact. The night lighting project for the walkways is also spectacular, with colored LEDs.

«The Eternal City created Bulgari in terms of style and reputation and makes us proud to help restore its beauty – added Babin -. This is a new example of very close collaboration between public and private and it will not be the last. This area is one of the most mysterious and fascinating in the city, an aspect that has fueled our interest in making it known to the world even more. Together with the new area of the Mausoleum of Augustus it will give even more visibility to Rome and make it more attractive for tourism. In Rome there is still a lot to do, for us the collaboration with the administration works very well and we are ready to participate in other projects ».

Bulgari has also supported the restoration of the precious Torlonia marble collection, exhibited at Villa Caffarelli at the Campidoglio: some of its pieces, as mentioned by the superintendent of Cultural Heritage of Rome Maria Vittoria Marini Clarelli, come from the excavations of Largo Argentina.
