Seat, a Manifesto for Diversity

by admin

VERONA – Reject stereotypes, demand diversity, take a stand and spread the message. These are the four pillars on which the Diversity Manifesto presented by Seat on the occasion of the “European Month of Diversity” promoted by the European Commission rests. “I am very proud to belong to a family of four generations of collaborators of 67 different nationalities and 26 native speakers, with a relevant LGBTIQ + community and 25% of women in the management team,” commented the President of the Spanish company Wayne Griffiths. “Diversity will drive the transformation of our company and help us challenge the status quo. With this Manifesto we will grow and take important steps, consolidating ourselves as an even more different, inclusive and open reality “

The four foundations of the manifesto, not by chance called “Diversity takes us far”, not only fight against stereotypes as hateful as they are obsolete, but underline the fact that having resources with different origins and points of view available generates more competitive teams. Seat’s commitment – they specify at the top floors – is precisely to develop real and meaningful measures “through training, tutoring, adapting or creating from scratch processes and tools, as well as encouraging inclusive leadership . Last but not least, it is essential to underline the need to convey these messages to collaborators, customers, shareholders, stakeholders and the communities with which one comes into contact. Promoting diversity as a value contributes to creating a better world for everyone ”.

With this in mind, Seat could not stay out of the international day against homophobia, transphobia and biphobia (IDAHOBIT, from the acronym in English), which in fact takes part with the #OutAtWorkVWgroup campaign, an initiative that aims to show diversity real within the Volkswagen Group, led by “We Drive Proud” of the German giant and the LGBTIQ + associations of the Volkswagen Group queer @ audi, Proud @ Porsche, proud @ MAN and Pride Moves Us of SEAT SA

Last year the Martorell-based company gave life to “Pride Moves Us” with the aim of creating an open space for all collaborators, and again in 2020 it joined the Diversity Charter, a charter of principles created to promote a global commitment by businesses to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

In 2021, Seat created the Equality Commission, made up of trade union representation and company management, and became part of the steering committee of REDI (Red Empresarial por la diversidad e includón LGBTI), the first Spanish network of companies and diversity and inclusion experts. (fp)
