Sharing your car safely, Jojob’s advice

by admin

ROMA – Partly due to the chronic inefficiency of public transport and partly also due to the fear of the greater possibility of contagion from Covid-19, all people who will not be able to move on foot or by bicycle or use smart working, will tend to avoid the ” use of public transport, favoring the use of private cars. However, to limit the inevitable traffic congestion it is possible, with due care and following the regulations issued by the Government, to share the car even with non-cohabiting people by resorting to carpooling, which, among other things, allows savings in terms of level. economical and allows you to reduce CO2 emissions. Precisely for this reason Jojob, the main service in Italy that offers companies a complete corporate welfare tool for mobility, has created a simple vademecum with rules, advice and precautions that allow you to share the car with colleagues in complete safety. “Like Jojob we are convinced that a valid help in this moment of crisis also from the point of view of mobility can come from carpooling which, if organized with due care – underlined Gerard Albertengo, CEO of Jojob – constitutes an integrative solution to public transport , capable of relieving the pressure on buses, subways and trams while simultaneously reducing the number of cars in circulation “.

Here are some tips developed by Jojob’s carpooling specialists:

1 – According to government guidelines, it is possible to travel by car with non-cohabiting people. In this case, it is necessary to comply with the same precautionary measures as for non-scheduled transport: in the front part of the car only the driver will have to sit, while for each further row of rear seats a maximum of two passengers can sit. On a five-seater, therefore, a maximum of 3 non-cohabiting people can travel. In this case, however, Jojob recommends limiting the crew (one driver and one passenger) to a minimum, precisely to lower the risk of contagion as much as possible. To achieve the greatest possible distance between the two occupants of the vehicle, the ideal would be for the passenger to sit in the right rear seat.

2 – It is mandatory to wear a mask while traveling by car with non-cohabiting people, therefore also with your colleagues.

3 – It is better to avoid traveling with the windows closed and the heating or air conditioning on at the same time. Instead, it is preferable to leave all windows open when possible. Otherwise, when two are traveling, the most effective solution could be – even if counterintuitive – to lower not the windows closest to the driver and passenger, but those on the opposite side: in this way a flow is created that causes the air enters or exits away from the driver or occupant of the second row.

4 – Especially for those who share a car for the home-work route, Jojob recommends creating stable crews over time, so as to always limit contact to the same people. Even better if they are colleagues with whom you share the office.

5 – It is advisable to maintain a safe distance not only inside the passenger compartment but also when getting in and out of the car, for example always using the opposite doors. Obviously avoid handshakes and any kind of physical contact.

6 – It will seem obvious but it is good to reiterate it: avoid traveling by car with other people in the presence of symptoms or if you are subjected to mandatory quarantine measures by the health authorities.

7 – If you are used to sharing your car with colleagues or non-cohabitants, it may be a good habit not only to always have some hand sanitizing gel at hand in the vehicle, but also to regularly sanitize the passenger compartment, in particular internal and external door handles, steering wheel, gearbox, handbrake, various buttons, seat belts. For example, alcohol-based cleaning solutions can be used, if possible using nebulizers to spray the product more widely. For interiors it is obviously good to evaluate the most suitable products according to the type of leather or fabric. If a real sanitization is necessary, it is advisable to contact specialized personnel.

In short, even if some indications may be trivial, it is good to always have them present since only by scrupulously observing all the health indications useful for preventing the spread of the pandemic will it be possible to quickly get rid of the coronavirus nightmare. (mr)
