Before retiring, Sorrells worked as an executive and engineer for a Fortune 500 multinational corporation headquartered in Kingsport, Tennessee, primarily engaged in the chemical industry manufacturing, producing advanced materials, chemicals and fibers for a variety of everyday uses. At present, it has more than 50 production bases around the world and has tens of thousands of employees. The company is ranked 343rd on the Fortune 500 list.
Sorrells’ wife, Cathy Hunt, is a retired nurse anesthetist. Appreciating Shen Yun’s mission to restore traditional Chinese culture, she said, “If they (Shen Yun) don’t try to bring it back to these traditions, these traditions will be lost forever.”
CFO of a textile company: Shen Yun energy is beautiful, vast and distant
Vicky Harrison is the CFO of a textile company with a global presence in fiber, nonwovens and filtration products with a high-end production line in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Harrison watched the Shen Yun performance with her husband, Jeff Harrison, the design and engineering coordinator for Johnson City Council.
Harrison said that she was very surprised by the artistic feast presented by Shen Yun, and every show from beginning to end fascinated her. “I can’t pick a favorite one. Each show is so unique and lovable.”
“For people like us who live in the United States, it is difficult to get in touch with the traditional culture of (pre-communism) China. It turns out that this place has such a beautiful cultural connotation, but it cannot become a part of the life of today’s young Chinese people, and it is impossible to live in Today’s Chinese heritage, they can’t see what we’re seeing, it’s so beautiful, it’s really heartbreaking.”
Harrison said it also made the couple even more fortunate to be able to see Shen Yun. “It’s been a great experience for both of us, it’s all been really good and I’m really enjoying it.”
Mr. Jeff said that watching Shen Yun was a Christmas gift he gave his wife, “I thought she would like it very much, but I also liked it very much, and I was surprised myself.”
“I really enjoyed the physical skills in it, the discipline it takes for the male and female dancers to work together, the vibrant colors, and the wonderful performances that we can understand and understand through their body language and every movement they convey. Ed Bolton, who was a vice president of sales for a multinational manufacturing company before retiring, was surprised to find that traditional Chinese people also believed in gods. He said that Shen Yun’s performance was “inspiring”.
Before Ed Bolton retired, he frequently visited Southeast Asian countries, including China, for work.
