Skoda, here is the eighth Student Car

by admin

ROMA Little designers grow up. The Skoda Student Car kicked off again this year, an initiative with which the Bohemian house tests a team of students from its Vocational School. To be precise, there are 25 apprentices, called this time to create a brand new rally version of the Sport Utlity Kamiq. To reach the finish line, the boys will collaborate with the Motorsport department of Škoda and with the engineers of the Technical Development, Design and Production departments of Mladá Boleslav, headquarters of the Bohemian house.

The first step was to create sketches, supported by Oliver Stefani, Head of Design at Škoda, and his team. “The rally version of the Kamiq posed unique challenges to the creativity of the apprentices. They used excellent ideas on paper and in the project ”.

This of 2021 is the eighth edition of the Student Car. In fact, since 2014 the students of the Vocational School have been trying their hand at making a car that comes from their imagination. The first experiment was the Citijet, a car based on the Citigo. Then it was the turn of the Funstar, a pick-up that even took off from the Fabia, while the following year the Atero coupe came out of the Rapid Spaceback.

In 2017 it was Citigo again that inspired the design of the Element electric, while the following year the students designed the Sunroq, a convertible version of the Karoq SUV which was followed by the Montiaq pickup based on the Kodiaq. Last year, finally, to celebrate the anniversary of the company’s founding in 1895, the students started from Octavia to create the Slavia Spider. The Vocational School of Mladá Boleslav was founded in 1927, and in just five years it will celebrate a century of history. (fp)
