Sonic the Hedgehog 3: Keanu Reeves to Voice Shadow in Highly Anticipated Film

The highly anticipated live-action movie “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” is set to hit theaters on December 20, 2024, and fans are in for a treat. Toby Asher, the producer of the series, recently revealed that a major plot point in the film is inspired by the popular 2001 game “Sonic Adventures 2”. Even more exciting, Hollywood superstar Keanu Reeves has been tapped to voice the character Shadow in the film.

According to Asher, “Sonic 3” will draw heavily from the beloved game “Sonic Adventures 2” and will also feature the iconic song “Live and Learn” from “Sonic 2”. Reeves, known for his roles in “The Matrix” and “The Hedgehog” series, was personally invited by Paramount Pictures to voice the character Shadow, much to the delight of fans.

The first two movies in the series, “Sonic Kid” and “Sonic Kid 2”, were blockbuster hits, raking in a combined total of over $700 million at the global box office. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, both films were adored by audiences, with freshness ratings of 93% and 96% respectively.

Fans have been eagerly anticipating Reeves’ involvement in the franchise since a viral fan-made animation of Shadow dubbed with his voice circulated on social media in 2022. Now, with the official casting announcement, their dreams have finally come true.

In addition to Reeves, the voice cast of “Sonic 3” includes Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Idris Elba as Knuckles, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails. Producer Toby Ascher promises that “Sonic 3” will be the most exciting installment in the franchise yet, drawing inspiration from classic Sonic games and delivering a big, fun, and exhilarating movie experience. Fans can’t wait to see Reeves bring Shadow to life on the big screen.
