[NTD, Beijing time, July 07, 2022]South Korea’s largest film and television production base, “CJ ENM Studio Center”, was completed in April and was recently disclosed to the media for the first time. Among them, the virtual space studio created with Samsung micro LEDs has attracted much attention from the media.
On the 5th, CJ ENM announced to the domestic and foreign media for the first time, the “CJ ENM Studio Center”, the largest film and television production base in Korea. It has 13 indoor studios and an open-air set site for outdoor shooting. Virtual production facilities, etc., where any content can be shot in one stop.
The “VP Stage” in the center of the CJ ENM studio is a studio where virtual images can be taken as the background. The super-sized micro-LED screen “The Wall” of Samsung Electronics in South Korea is covered with 360-degree walls and ceilings. The main display screen is an oval structure, 20 meters long and 7.3 meters high, with two in-line screens 20 meters long and 3.6 meters high on both sides.
With the continuous change of the background, the dream background that does not exist in reality is realized through computer graphics.
Jung Chang-ik, head of the virtual production team at CJ ENM: “When shooting with an LED screen, the actors can shoot directly in the background of the scene. Unlike the previous visual effects, the filming can be completed directly on site without the need for post-production time.”
By building a production environment that transcends time and space, the LED screen can more easily show the background of overseas scenes and difficult shooting in space. Minimize repetitive set installations and removals, reducing content production costs and post-production time. In the future, “VP Stage” will be used for movies, TV series, variety shows, performances, etc.
Jung Chang-ik, head of the virtual production team at CJ ENM, said, “I look forward to the virtual production platform that integrates the highest level of film and television production facilities to become the foundation that will make the ‘K-industry’ leap forward again.”
CJ ENM Studio Center is located in Paju, Gyeonggi-do. After more than two years of construction, it was completed in April this year.
