The award ceremony for the “Sergio Marchionne Student Achievement Awards” took place online yesterday, the initiative that annually assigns prizes and scholarships to the children of employees of the Stellantis group, CNH Industrial and Iveco Group.
The ceremony was attended by the President of Stellantis, John Elkann, and Xavier Chéreau, Chief HR & Transformation Officer, in addition to the winners of past editions.
In the 2021 edition, the “Italy Award Commission” received more than 600 applications. The winners of this edition are 284, selected on the basis of academic performance and the quality of the written essay sent at the time of application.
The initiative, born in Italy in 1995, was subsequently extended to other 15 countries where the Groups have a significant presence, including France, Brazil, China, Belgium, Poland, Spain, Portugal, Great Britain, United States, Argentina , Canada, Mexico and Serbia. In the nearly 30 years since the launch of the initiative, a total of 36,376 prizes have been awarded worldwide.
The initiative was open to all students who are children of employees in business who have completed higher education and university degrees. In this edition, all the students who obtained the State exam between June-July 2020 or the degree (1st or 2nd level) between 1 January 2020 and 31 December 2020 (with an age not over 26 years).
Stellantis also gave young people the opportunity to try their hand at a one-day hackathon on highly topical issues: gender equality, the reduction of inequalities, the creation of sustainable cities and communities.
The event was organized as a great collective brainstorming between connected tables. The participants divided into groups worked on the realization of a project on the highly topical macro-themes proposed: ways of using theaters and sites of cultural / artistic interest; reduction of the phenomenon of fake news on the Web; greater knowledge of corporate culture through digital; dissemination of the culture of natural heritage protection.
The works were evaluated taking into account various aspects: the innovativeness of the proposal, the actual advantage that this proposal would bring, the feasibility and effectiveness of the presentation. The best projects were awarded during the ceremony.
