On July 20, Zhengzhou suffered a major flood and the Jingguang Tunnel was flooded. The survivor Wu Qiang told the media, “I was really desperate at the time. (Until now) people shuddered when thinking of the water scene.”
Wu Qiang said that the tunnel was already blocked by a car and couldn’t get out at all. He opened the sunroof of the car together with his brother-in-law and the driver and climbed onto the roof.
The driver asked them to go first and said, “You two children are still young”, but Wu Qiang refused, “I will throw you down. What is this? You can’t swim!”
Wu Qiang said that when they were determined to jump into the water, they did not expect the water to be so deep, at least 2 meters. Wu Qiang is 1.75 meters tall, and he can’t step on it at all.
So he quickly climbed onto the roof of the car again, his brother-in-law was drowned in the water, frantically trying to grab something, and caught a pipe in a panic, but the person was not washed away.
