Takashi Murakami’s first solo exhibition “Takashi Murakami: Stepping on the Tail of a Rainbow” officially debuts at The Broad

In addition to his recent solo show at the Gagosian Gallery in New York, Takashi Murakami traveled to Los Angeles for his first solo show at The Broad. This solo exhibition will feature 18 works from his career, including the 82-foot-wide In the Land of the Dead, Stepping on the Tail of a Rainbow and the 1999 sculpture DOB in the Strange Forest (Blue DOB)”, which features Takashi Murakami’s anime-style character Mr. DOB.

This exhibition includes a new immersive environment jointly developed by Takashi Murakami and his studio Kaikai Kiki Co., Ltd, which fully enhances the viewing experience through AR technology. The Broad describes the exhibition: “In these works, which include sculptures, paintings, wallpapers and immersive installations, the artist explores themes of globalization, post-war Japan, pop culture and religious iconography.”
