Technogym continues to grow thanks to home fitness. Abroad starts again

Consolidated revenues at 128.7 million euros, up 10.2% driven by the increase in home fitness, + 129.2%, to 51.3 million with an incidence on revenues equal to 40% (it was 15 % in the first quarter of 2020): this is how Technogym closes the first three months of 2021 despite the results continuing to be affected by the global health crisis triggered by the Covid-19 epidemic. However, the first signs of improvement are beginning to be registered in the geographical areas where, thanks to the advancement of the vaccination campaign, there is a gradual training of the restrictions and a consequent return to normality.

«Technogym closes the first quarter of 2021 with double-digit growth in turnover, substantially in line with the first quarter of 2019, and a more than proportional increase in profitability – comments Nerio Alessandri, president and CEO -. This result is the result of a further acceleration in home fitness sales and the restart of the BtoB, with the Health segment in the lead. The Fitness Club segment is also restarting, especially in Asia Pacific and the UK, areas where end users are returning to the gym with enthusiasm and operators have confirmed their investment plans. In the coming months it is expected to restart also in the rest of Europe and North America ».

And he adds: «In the wellness sector, on a global level, the hybrid model is being confirmed: training not only in the gym but also at home and vice versa. For years, Technogym’s strategy has been Wellness on the go, an exclusive digital ecosystem with which we offer people an online and offline training experience at home, in the gym, in the office or on vacation, which in this post-Covid context turns out to be a more innovative strategy than ever. For many years we have spread our ecosystem of connected products in tens of thousands of fitness centers and in July we will launch the Technogym app, to offer people better results in less time with an unprecedented level of personalization, engagement and customer experience. The Technogym app, connected to the equipment, is also equipped with a vast library of video on-demand workouts and an AI-based coach. The coach follows the user, optimizes the program on his needs and allows him to feel part of the community ».

In recent weeks the company is already working on the upcoming Tokyo Olympics, the eighth for Technogym, to support the athletic training of over 12,000 champions from all over the world.
