DoNews News on July 1st (Guo Ruiqi) According to the news from “Late Point Finance”, Tencent Interactive Entertainment Group (IEG) Tianmei Studio Group made organizational adjustments on June 30th:

  • The original Tianmei J3 studio has been adjusted to three major studios, Y1, Y2, and Y3, so that Tianmei can cover various types of shooting games more comprehensively.
  • Tianmei Y1 is responsible for products such as “Reverse War” and “Call of Duty Mobile Games”, and will also output multi-dimensional general capabilities in shooting games for Y2 and Y3 studios in the form of a middle platform; Tianmei Y2 will be responsible for global multi-end self-research Game products; Tianmei Y3 will be responsible for the development of CFM (Cross Fire Mobile Games) and its new IP series game products;
  • Yao Yuan, the former head of Tianmei J3 studio, will continue to be in charge of Tianmei Y1, Y2, and Y3 studios;
  • The newly established Tianmei G1 studio is responsible for creating global original 3A products;

People familiar with the matter said that the original Tianmei J3 studio has long focused on shooting games, and after years of development, it has more than 800 employees. Due to its large size, this adjustment has been brewing for nearly a year.

Shooting games are still the most popular mainstream game category today. The above-mentioned person said that the purpose of J3 Studio’s adjustment this time is to increase investment in this field and give its project teams more space and autonomy to explore.

Late Finance learned that the three studios Y1, Y2, and Y3 have now started to develop shooting games for the world in different directions and fields. Among them, Y2 studio is focusing on the development of the next-generation UE 4 (Unreal 4 engine) realistic military world tactical shooting project, but the specific form is still under wraps.

Tianmei has more than 10 years of accumulation in the field of FPS (First Person Shooter). In 2015, Tianmei and South Korean company Smilegate jointly created the game “Cross Fire: Gunfight King”. In 2019, Timex and Activision Blizzard launched “Call of Duty Mobile”, which currently ranks third in the global shooting mobile game revenue rankings.
