The world of art in mourning for the death of Rolando Kapanny. Painter, sculptor and decorator, he was born in the province of Reggio Emilia in 1947 and then moved with his family to Milan and eventually became Biella by adoption. A great supporter of the Fund and friend of the president Simona Tempia, in 2011 he had donated one of his works inspired by prevention and research, still exhibited today in the atrium of the headquarters in via Malta 3. From his atelier which was based in Chiavazza, his bas-reliefs , made mainly of pumice stone, had reached the whole world, from Switzerland to Germany, from Bangkok to South Africa, thanks to numerous exhibitions and the hospitality of art galleries. «I think that at night» the critic Antonino De Bono wrote of him «the characters and symbols portrayed by Kapanny descend from the stones to open up to an inner knowledge unknown to us».
In recent years he had moved to Tollegno, where the funeral was celebrated. «And his house» recalls Simona Tempia «was like an oasis in the middle of the buildings. The Biellese loses a valuable artist, the Fund loses a great friend. We will miss his culture and his intelligence ».
