ROME – At the end of a hard-fought competition, the electric Fiat Nuova 500 defeated the competition and won the title of “Auto Europa 2022”. The important recognition was given by a specialized audience made up of members of the Italian Union of Automotive Journalists (Uiga), fans of a popular jury and over one hundred opinion leaders. The new 100% electric city car from the Lingotto company was thus proclaimed the best car produced and marketed in Europe on the basis of characteristics such as innovation, design, quality and operating economy. In addition to the Fiat Nuova 500, the natural “green” evolution of the iconic model resulting from the inspiration of Dante Giacosa, the parterre of the finalists of the Auto Europa 2022 award was made up of Audi Q4 e-tron, Bmw Serie 4, Cupra Formentor, Dacia Sandero , Hyundai Tucson and Nissan Qashqai. In this edition then, the preference expressed by the Uiga opinion leader jury went to the Audi Q4 e-tron, while the Nissan Qashqai was the winner in the popular jury’s vote.

Furthermore, all the finalist models will be remembered as “self-courage”, having been launched during the health emergency due to the Sars-CoV-2 pandemic that has brought the world‘s economies to their knees. “The seven finalists of this 36th edition of Auto Europa – underlined Gaetano Cesarano, president of Uiga – are perfect ambassadors of what the car best expresses today in terms of design, technological performance, dynamic efficiency, environmental sustainability and attractiveness on the market. The enthusiasm with which so many took part in the voting demonstrates the great potential that the four wheels can still express, despite the adversity caused by too many uninformed or ill-disposed decision makers ”. Finally, it should be noted that to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Auto Europa award, Uiga, in collaboration with the historic Italian Automotoclub, has awarded three special awards to as many winning cars in previous editions, namely the Audi 80 for design, to the Citroën XM for the originality of the project and to the Alfa Romeo 156 for the performances.
