Cannes Film Festival opens next month, starring Tang Wei to compete for the Palme d’Or

The 75th Cannes Film Festival will be held from May 17th to 28th. On April 14th, French local time, the Cannes Film Festival team announced the official selection of films. The film “Resolve to Break Up” starring Chinese actor Tang Wei was shortlisted for this film. The festival’s main competition unit, and other countries’ best films compete for the Palme d’Or.
This year’s Cannes Film Festival is still classified according to the official unit of the traditional film festival, with the main competition unit and the “One Concern” unit. A total of 18 films were shortlisted in the main competition unit of the 75th French Cannes Film Festival announced on the same day. Among them, the new film “Resolve to Break Up” by South Korean director Park Chan-wook, which is starring Chinese actor Tang Wei, has attracted much attention. Park Chan-wook has won awards at the previous Cannes Film Festival for films such as “Old Boy” and “The Bat”.

Another main competition film from East Asia is “The Broker” by Japanese director Hirokazu Koeda, starring South Korean stars Song Kang-ho and Bae Doo-na. It is Hirokazu Koreeda who has participated in the Cannes Film Festival many times. The film “The Thief Family” directed by him won the Palme d’Or at the 71st Cannes Film Festival in 2018.
The films in the main competition unit also include the film “Doomsday” directed by American director James Gray and starring American stars Anthony Hopkins and Anne Hathaway; the film “Doomsday” directed by Russian director Serebrennikov “Antonina”; Canadian director Cronenberg directed the film “Future Crime” starring French movie star Lea Seydoux, etc.
