ROME – The Government has refinanced the incentives for the purchase of cars with an endowment of 350 million euros; the concessions will expire on December 31st, but since the implementing regulations have not been published, it is not (yet) possible to request them for used cars and, therefore, the industry takes cover with individual initiatives such as that of the Summer Black Friday.
Discounts for used cars
In its plans, the Government also wanted to support the used car market by allocating 40 million for those who buy a second-hand Euro 6 vehicle, diesel or petrol. However, only vehicles with low CO emissions are included in the incentive2, that is to say those between 0 and 160 g / Km and with average market prices of less than 25,000 euros. To access this incentive, a vehicle registered before January 2011 must be scrapped. The bonus that can be obtained varies according to the vehicle’s emissions, however it ranges from a minimum of € 750 up to a maximum of € 2,000.
While waiting for the details to be published to enjoy the incentives, currently, however, it is not possible to take advantage of the bonus for the purchase of used cars. This risks becoming a serious problem, because, although vehicle sales drop dramatically in August, it is clear that in September, if the implementing regulations are not enacted, there could be a new reduction in the automotive sector that is difficult to recover. Since Italians seem more inclined, today, to buy a used car (also to contain spending) which, however, allows them to pollute less and save on operating costs, if within the next few days the mechanisms to obtain the incentive, it is likely that the decision to buy a vehicle will be postponed by most of the undecided.
Not just state incentives: the “Summer Black Friday” arrives
To overcome the problem and allow consumers to still enjoy economic advantages for the purchase of second-hand, companies are introducing single projects. Facile.it e MiaCar, for example, they decided to launch the Summer Black Friday, bringing to the world of cars the typical advantages of the event that in recent years has conquered Italians in the field, for example, of household appliances and consumer electronics.
Specifically, the initiative, which will last for the entire month of August and is valid on over 500 cars, provides an extra discount, which goes up to 1.000 euro and can be combined with state incentives, on the purchase of new, km0 and used cars (for the latter two, however, the fact is that the incentives can only be combined at the time of the enactment of the implementing decrees).
Discounts for new cars
The bulk of the state incentives, namely 200 million euros, was allocated to the purchase or leasing of new low-emission petrol or diesel cars, i.e. between 61 and 135 grams of CO2 per kilometer and list price up to 40,000 euros. 60 million, on the other hand, were allocated to the purchase of cars with emissions between 0 and 60 g / km, ie electric and plug-in vehicles, and a list price of less than 50,000 euros.
The bonus varies according to the CO emissions2 of the purchased car and the presence or absence of an old vehicle to be scrapped; in any case, the discounts range from a minimum of 3,500 euros to a maximum of 10,000 euros.
